POSTOPERATIVE INSTRUCTIONS

IMPLANT POSTOPERATIVE INSTRUCTIONS

After undergoing dental implant surgery, proper care and attention during the recovery period are essential for successful healing. These postoperative instructions are designed to help you manage discomfort, reduce swelling, and prevent infection:

1. Do not spit or rinse your mouth on the day of surgery.

2. Brush your teeth carefully, avoiding the surgical area.

3. Follow a liquid diet for 2 days, and a soft diet for 7 days.

4. Avoid touching the surgical area with your tongue.

5. Take all medications prescribed by your dentist.

6. Avoid strenuous activity for the next 7 days (gym, jogging, heavy lifting).

7. Avoid smoking and alcohol for the next 7 days.

8. Try to sleep with your head raised for the first 2 days.

9. If you start to bleed heavily, place a gauze pad on the wound and apply pressure by biting.

To help prevent future dental problems, good oral hygiene, limiting the intake of sugar and regular visits to the dentist/hygienist are essential.
