SELF - CARE FOLLOWING:
DENTAL WHITENING
After a tooth whitening procedure, following proper aftercare is crucial to maintain the results and protect your teeth from sensitivity.
Good oral hygiene, including brushing with a non-abrasive toothpaste and flossing, helps to preserve the brightness of your smile. If sensitivity occurs, using a toothpaste designed for sensitive teeth and following your dentist's recommendations can provide relief. With proper care, your whitening results can last longer and keep your smile bright.
Do not smoke, drink coffee or tea for at least 72 hours after the procedure.
Gum irritation may occur but is usually short lived.
Drink beverages using a straw to reduce staining and discoloration of the teeth in the future.
If you experience sensitivity, you should:
· Avoid extreme hot and cold foods/drinks.
· Brush twice daily using a sensitive toothpaste (can also be used as an ointment).
· An alcohol free fluoride mouthwash can be used between brushings.
To help prevent future dental problems, good oral hygiene, limiting the intake of sugar and regular visits to the dentist/hygienist are essential.
