SELF - CARE FOLLOWING:

DENTAL WHITENING

After a tooth whitening procedure, following proper aftercare is crucial to maintain the results and protect your teeth from sensitivity.

Good oral hygiene, including brushing with a non-abrasive toothpaste and flossing, helps to preserve the brightness of your smile. If sensitivity occurs, using a toothpaste designed for sensitive teeth and following your dentist's recommendations can provide relief. With proper care, your whitening results can last longer and keep your smile bright.

  • Do not smoke, drink coffee or tea for at least 72 hours after the procedure.

  • Gum irritation may occur but is usually short lived.

  • Drink beverages using a straw to reduce staining and discoloration of the teeth in the future.

  • If you experience sensitivity, you should:

    ·         Avoid extreme hot and cold foods/drinks.

    ·         Brush twice daily using a sensitive toothpaste (can also be used as an ointment).

    ·         An alcohol free fluoride mouthwash can be used between brushings.

To help prevent future dental problems, good oral hygiene, limiting the intake of sugar and regular visits to the dentist/hygienist are essential.
