SELF - CARE FOLLOWING:

DENTAL RESTORATION

After dental reconstruction, following a careful aftercare routine is crucial for healing and maintaining the results. This procedure can involve crowns, bridges, implants, or veneers, so specific care instructions may vary. Swelling and sensitivity are normal in the initial days, but these should gradually subside. Regular follow-up visits with your dentist ensure proper healing and allow for any necessary adjustments.

  • Take care if anesthesia was administered that you do not nibble/bite or burn the lip whilst numb.

  • If the restoration(s) feel slightly high we may need to make a simple adjustment.

  • You can eat and drink straight away.

  • The gum area may be sore for up to 7 days.

  • If you experience sensitivity, you should:

·         Avoid extreme hot and cold foods/drinks.

·         Brush twice daily using a sensitive toothpaste (can also be used as an ointment).

·         An alcohol free fluoride mouthwash can be used between brushings.

To help prevent future dental problems, good oral hygiene, limiting the intake of sugar and regular visits to the dentist/hygienist are essential.
